Donald Pleasence ACTOR

Donald Pleasence was born on October 5th, 1919 in Nottinghamshire, England with the middle name Henry.  He was born to Alice and Thomas Stanley Pleasence and was raised in a village in Lincolnshire.  He dropped out of school to try and pursue a career as an actor.
Throughout his career he would add to his resume over 200 credits becoming known as one of the most famous British actors of all times.  He became most remembered for his roles in the "James Bond" films.
His career as an actor began like many as a stage actor working on the London stage in the late 30's.  When he was performing in a production of, "Wuthering Heights" World War II occurred and he took a break from acting and joined the Royal Air Force.  His plane was shot down he was actually taken hostage and was a prisoner-of-war at a German camp.  It was here that he would perform in plays to amuse the other troops.
After the war, Pleasence went back to finding work as an actor and after some more early on stage experiences he began to pursue work as a television actor.  One of his first major television roles was on BBC in, "Nineteen Eighty-Hours" (1954) followed by roles in, "The Adventures of Robin Hood" (1956-1958) starring Richard Greene, "Danger Man" (1960-1961) and then he bean pursuing work on American television shows.
Some of these roles were in, "The Twilight Zone" (1962) and "The Man With the Power" (1963).  Along with television roles he also appeared on the big screen in a number of films such as, "The Great Escape" (1963) starring Steve McQueen and James Garner just to name a few, "Cul-de-sac" (1966), "The Night of the Generals" (1967), "You Only Live Twice" (1967), "Will Penny" (1968) starring Charlton Heston and Lee Majors, "Wake in Fright" (1971), "Watch Out, We're Mad" (1974) and "The Eagle has Landed" (1976) starring Michael Caine, Donald Sutherland and Robert Duvall.
As his career progressed he continued to increase his popularity with roles in such films as, "Halloween" (1978), playing the character, Dr. Loomis.  He reprised this character again in, "Halloween II, IV, V and VI.  Then in 1988 he also appeared in the film, "The Great Escape II: The Untold Story" on the television movie.
Along with a successful acting career, he also was a successful author writing such children's books as, "Scouse the Mouse" (1977).
Throughout his career in the industry he was nominated a total of four times for Best Actor for Tony Awards.  He was also made an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire for his services to the acting industry by, Queen Elizabeth II in 1994.
Throughout his lifetime he married a total of four times.  His first wife was Miriam Raymond whom he wed in 1941 and after having two children this marriage came to an end in 1958.  He then married Josephine Crombie in 1959 and again had two more children before divorcing in 1970.  Then he decided to wed for a third time to Miera Shore also in 1970 and had another child before this marriage also was unsuccessful ending in 1988.  His fourth and final time to wed was to Linda Kentwood in 1989 and they remained married until he passed away at the age of seventy five, on February 2nd, 1995 in France after suffering from complications from a heart valve replacement surgery.  His remains were cremated.
