DON RICKLES BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Don Rickles was born on May 8th 1926 in New York City, New York with the birth name Donald Jay Rickles to parents Joseph and Frances Rickles. After completing High School he joined the United States Navy and served during World War II.
He began his involvement in the entertainment industry working in night clubs doing stand up comedy since he was finding it so difficult to break into the acting industry. He always aspired to be a working actor and studied drama at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts when in 1958 he finally, he had the chance to make his film debut on, "Run Silent Run Deep" (1958) starring Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster which was a huge success.
He continued to work in the film industry on such films as, "X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes" (1963), "Bikini Beach" (1964), "Enter Laughing" (1967) and "Kelly Heroes" (1970).
After adding a decent amount of films to his resume he began working on television as a regular on, Dean Martin's, "Celebrity Roasts" (1973-1984). This opportunity soon followed with the chance to have his own show titled, "C.P.O Sharkey" (1976) which aired for two years.
Rickles then slowed down quite a bit appearing in just a couple films and appearing on stage singing with Steve Lawrence in concerts around Las Vegas and soon followed with a live performance with Frank Sinatra.
In 1985, he made a huge return to the industry gaining popularity when he did voice over work in a film with Tom Hanks and Tim Allen as grouchy Mr. Potato Head in, "Toy Story" which soon followed in 1999 with "Toy Story 2".
Some of his other acting work during the 90's was on, "Innocent Blood" (1992) and a short sitcom titled, "Daddy Dearest" (1993). His latest appearance on television was in 2009 on the, "Kathy Griffin Show: My Life on the D-List".
Don Rickles married only one time on March 14th, 1965 to Barbara Rickles and they have two children together, Mindy & Larry, and remain still married today. He has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for Live Theatre.
