DEBBIE REYNOLDS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:

Debbie Reynolds was born on April 1st, 1932 in El Paso, Texas with the birth name Mary Frances Reynolds to parents, Maxine N. Harmon and Raymond Francis Reynolds.  In 1939, her family relocated to Burbank, California.  While attending, John Burroughs High School, Warner Brothers set up a beauty contest which she entered and won.  This was the start of her career in entertainment.

Throughout her acting career, she earned a number of nicknames such as Princess Leia's Mom, Frannie and Aba Dabba.  She loved to dance and still incorporates dancing into many of her stage performances, however she was not actually a trained dancer growing up.  It was not until she worked on stage with Gene Kelly in, "Singin' in the Rain" (1952) that she actually performed a dance number on stage.

Her career in entertainment first began with Warner Brothers, but things were very slow for her with them so she left Warner Brothers and signed with MGM. The majority of her acting work thereafter has been in a number of MGM musicals.

She became well known for a hit song, "Aba Daba Honeymoon" from her film, "Two Weeks with Love" (1950).  Other decent film roles were in, "Bundle of Joy" (1956), and "Tammy and the Bachelor" (1957).  She had a hit song from this film too titled, "Tammy" which earned a gold record and became the best selling single by a female vocalist in 1957.

At the age of thirty one she earned an Academy Award nomination for her role in the film, "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" (1964) followed by a role in, "The Singing Nun" (1966).  Along with working in films she also still would on occasion headline in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As her career progressed, Reynolds also continued to record music.  Her first album was with Dot Records called, "Debbie".  Such songs from this album were, S'posin", "Moonglow", "Mean To Me" and "Time After Time".

Reynolds has been married three times throughout her lifetime.  Her first husband was Eddie Fisher from 1955 through 1959 and they have two children together.  Their marriage ended when her husband left her for Elizabeth Taylor.  She then married her second husband, Harry Karl in 1960 and they were together until 1973.  Her third and final husband to date was Richard Hamlett in 1984, but this marriage too did not last and it ended in 1996.  Her last two marriages caused major financial distress for her and she has continued to have to work to support herself and her family.

From her recent success as an actress she has been taking much of what she earns and creating a Hollywood Museum with a collection that exceeds 3000 costumes and 46,000 square feet filled with props and equipment.

Some of her most recent appearances have been on the television series, "Wings", "Will & Grace" and in 2010 she was seen in her, West End Show, Debbie Reynolds: Alive and Fabulous.

Reynolds has received a number of honors throughout her career such as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she has also placed her foot and handprints in the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, California.  She currently resides in Beverly Hills and live next door to her daughter Carrie who is also a working actress.
