DANNY GLOVER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Danny Glover was born the oldest of five children on July 22nd, 1946 in San Francisco, California with the birth name Danny Lebern Glover. His parents, Carrie and James Glover were both employees of the postal service as well as members of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
After Glover completed his high school degree at George Washington High he enrolled at City College of San Francisco and then earned a degree in economics from American University in 1968.
His first type of employment was working in city administration with the Conservatory Theater and also on the side he began his involvement with acting training at the Shelton Actors Lab in San Francisco.
After deciding on a career as an actor he began with stage acting. After gaining some experience, Glover decided to relocate to Los Angeles, California and began looking for work. His film debut was in 1979 in, “Escape from Alcatraz”.
He became best known to viewers for his work on the "Lethal Weapons" series of action films playing Los Angeles Police Sergeant, Roger Murtaugh. Other prominent roles he added to his resume were roles in the film, "Predator 2", "To Sleep with Anger", "Royal Teenenbaums" (2001), "Saw" (2004), "2012" (2009) and "I Want to Be a Soldier" (2010) which was actually a Spanish film.
Not only has he made an appearance in a number of films, Glover has also been involved in a variety of voice over projects for such children's movies as, "The Adventures of Brer Rabbit" (2006).
Along with his career as an actor, he has also worked on the other side of the industry as a director for such projects as the television short film, "Override" (1994). He was also responsible for co founding the Robey Theatre Company in Los Angeles, California. He also won an Independent Spirit Award for his involvement as executive producer and actor in, “To Sleep with Anger”.
His last film appearances will soon release in 2012 with roles in, "Macbett", "Praire Bones" and Chapo". Not only does he remain working in the industry as a highly successful actor he is also very involved in a number of other humanitarian causes. He feels very strongly about economic justice and fair access to healthcare within the United States as well as in Africa as well as currently serving as a UNICEF ambassador.
Danny has married twice throughout his lifetime. His first wife was Asake Bomani whom he wed in 1975 and had one child with before the marriage ended in divorce in 2000. He then married Eliane Cavalleiro in 2009 and they remain married today.
He remains working in the industry and continues to be involved with a number of charitable organizations such as his latest donation of $1 million to TransAfrica Forum’s $5 million Capital Campaign.
