DANIEL RADCLIFF BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Daniel Radcliff was born on July 23rd, 1989 in Fulham, London in the United Kingdom with the middle name Jacob. His parents, Alan Radcliffe and Marcia Gresham only had one child and his mother worked as a casting agent.
When Radcliff was only five years old he expressed interest in acting. When he was only ten years old he was able to get a role on BBC's television movie, "David Copperfield" (1999), where he portrayed a young Copperfield.
Along with doing some acting, he still continued to receive his education at Sussex House School for boys and then the City of London School. By 2001 he was being cast again in, "The Tailor of Panama". Soon an opportunity of a lifetime came when he was cast in the role that would change his life forever.
Director, Chris Columbus chose Radcliff to portray, Harry Potter in the first of many films. Radcliff almost lost out on the opportunity to play this character as his parents originally were not comfortable with him moving to Los Angeles to film. The originally declined the role, but after some contract negotiations, Radcliff and his family agreed to take on the responsibility of working on the films.
After being cast in the first Harry Potter film, he chose to receive his education on set and did not pursue a college degree as he felt that in his mind he already wanted to be an actor and a writer and was not ready for taking on both projects at once.
The first film was, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" (2001), which was a huge success and Radcliff became known world wide. The next sequels soon followed, "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" (2002), "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004), "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" (2005), "Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix" (2007), "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" (2009), "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" (2010), "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" (2010) and finally, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" (2011).
As his career continued, luckily, he was not limited only to roles portraying Harry Potter, as he proved that he has a unique acting ability. Radcliff also did a little stage acting performing in London as well as New York in such productions as, "Equus" and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" for which he earned a, Drama Desk Award, Drama League Award and an Outer Critics Award nomination for his role in this production.
Other roles he has added to his resume are on the television movie, "My Boy Jack" (2007) and "December Boys" (2007). Soon to release are some of his more recent roles, "The Woman in Black" (2012) and "Kill Your Darlings" (2013).
Daniel Radcliff has been involved in contributing to a number of charitable organizations such as, The Trevor Project, which is a program that helps troubled youth dealing with being homosexual, avoid suicide as their only option. He also has donated a decent amount of funds to, Demelza House Children's Hospice. He has also been involved in auctioning off clothing items to donate the funds to, Broadway Cates? Equity Fights AIDS".
He has received a number "'Best Male Performance" and nominations for "Best Male Performance" and "Global Superstar" at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
He has been ranked by Forbes magazine as, Most Valuable Young Stars "as of 2009 and by 2010 he was the sixth highest paid Hollywood male star. Although he is very wealthy and well known, he has never let his popularity get to his head and he thanks his parents for always keeping him grounded so he could live as normal a childhood as possible in the lifestyle of a child actor.
