DANE CLARK BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Dane Clark was born on February 26th, 1912 in Brooklyn, New York with the birth name Bernard Zanville. His parents were Samuel and Rose and his father owned a sporting good company in New York City. He graduated from Cornell University and then went on to attend St. John's Law School. In the mid 1930's after he had finished his schooling he tried to find work, but was having a difficult time locating any employment so he tried working in a number of different fields such as modeling, boxing, baseball and construction.
After not really finding anything he enjoyed doing, he decided to search for a career as an actor. He began with stage work and was able to get cast in a number of Broadway productions such as, "Panic", "Dead End", "Stage Door" and "Of Mice and Men". He had now gained enough experience as a stage actor that he decided to relocate to Hollywood and see if he could find work as a film actor.
He began with small parts in films being credited under his birth name until 1943 when he changed his name to a name Humphrey Bogart gave him. Dane was signed by Warner Brothers and he worked on a film called, "Action in the North Atlantic" (1943) and this role was followed with regular roles in a number of War time films such as, "Destination Tokyo" (1943), "God is My Co-Pilot" (1945) and "Pride of the Marines" (1945).
He normally got cast in mostly average parts, but worked with a number of major stars such as, Humphrey Bogart, Cary Grant and John Garfield. He worked on television as well starring on the NBC crime drama, "Justice" (1954-1955) as well as making guest appearances on, "Appointment with Adventure", "The Twilight Zone", "The Prime Mover" and "Perry Mason" (1973).
He married twice throughout his lifetime, first to Margot Yoder from 1941 through her passing in 1970. He then married for a second time to Geraldine Zanville in 1971 through September 11th, 1998 when he passed away in Santa Monica, California.
