Dan Haggerty was born on November 19th, 1941 in Hollywood, California with the birth name Gene Jajonski.  He became most well known to many for his role in the film, "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams" (1977).  He grew up helping his family raise wild animals at a wild animal attraction and then later in life decided he was interested in pursuing a career as an actor.

He had also taken up an interest in body building which helped him break into the film industry with body building roles in such films as, "Muscle Beach Party" (1964) and "Girl Happy" (1965) starring Elvis Presley

Along with working as an actor he also made money on the side working as an animal trainer as well as a stuntman on such television series as, "Tarzan".  Other small roles he added to his resume along the way were roles in the film, "Americana" and "Easy Rider".  it was his role in the independent film, "The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams" that boost his level of stardom and this film was later even made into a television series.

Although he was now well received in Hollywood he made some personal mistakes in his life that did not help his career head in the right direction.  He was arrested for in 1984 for selling cocaine and served 90 days in jail.  He was also involved in a motorcycle crash which caused strain on his career.

As time progressed he still remained working in the industry but also turned his career goals to other interests such as running a restaurant called, "Haggerty's Bistro" and also selling his own barbeque sauce.

He has married twice throughout his lifetime.  His first wife was Diane Rooker whom he wed in 1959 and after having two children this marriage came to an end in 1984.  He then married his second wife, Samantha Haggerty in 1984 and they had three children together and remained married until she passed away from a motorcycle accident in 2008.
