COURTENEY COX BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Courteney Cox was born on June 15th, 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama with the birth name Courteney Bass Cox. Her father Richard and mother Courteney were quite wealthy and she had two older sisters as well as an older brother. In 1974, her parents divorced and her father relocated to Florida.
Her teenage years were troublesome and she rebelled quite a bit. She graduated from Mountain Brook High School and towards the end of her senior year she became involved in modeling when she was hired to do a photo shoot for the store, Parisians.
After high school she enrolled at Mount Vernon College to study architecture and interior design, however she only completed a year of her education before she dropped out and relocated to New York city to pursue a modeling career after she was offered a contract with Ford Modeling Agency.
It did not take long for her to grace the cover of such magazines as Tiger Beat and Little Miss and then she was even appearing commercials for such products as Maybeline, Noxema and Tampax.
During her time modeling in New York, Cox also began studying acting and in 1984 she was cast for a small role in the soap Opera "As the World Turns". She then also got a chance to appear in a music video with Bruce Springsteen for his hit song, "Dancing in the Dark".
Cox then decided to relocate to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of a full time career as an actress. She first found work in the film, "Misfits of Science" and then was cast on the television series, "Family Ties" (1982) playing Michael J. Fox's girlfriend, Lauren Miller.
After, "Family Ties" was cancelled she was cast in the film, "Mr. Destiny" (1990) and then got another big break in her career when she starred in the film, "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" (1994) followed by her biggest role as Monica Geller in the hit television series, "Friends" (1994). For this role she received a comedy Award nomination and the show was such a huge success, Cox became a household name. The show lasted for a total of ten seasons and she became along with her female co stars the highest paid Television actresses of all time earning $1 million per episode for the last two seasons of the show.
Finally things were really heading in the right direction for her career wise. Soon she was cast in such films as, "Scream" (1996), "Scream 2" (1997), "Scream 3" (2000), "November" (2005), "The Runner" (1999), "3000 Miles to Graceland" (2001) starring Kurt Russell, Kevin Costner, David Arquette, Bokeem Woodbine, Christian Slater and Kevin Pollak, "The Shrink Is In" (2001) and "Scream 4" (2011).
Cox has married only once to David Arquette in 1999 and they have one child and remain together today. In 2009 she became the star of her own hit series, "Cougar Town" which is still successful and going into it's third season run.
