CORINNE CALVET BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Corinne Calvet was born on April 30th, 1925 in Paris, France with the birth name Corinne Dibos. Her father was a scientist and invented Pyrex which is a glassware that allows food to be cooked in the microwave.
After completing High School she studied criminal law at the Sorbonne. She then got involved in French radio shows, stage plays and cinema in the 1940's. When producer Hal Wallis took an interest in her she relocated to Hollywood and was discovered by Paramount studios.
She was cast in a number of films, mostly playing French characters such as in the films, "On the Riviera" (1951), "Peking Express" (1951), "What Price Glory" (1952), "The Far Country" (1954), "So This is Paris" (1955) and "Sailor Beware" (1952).
Her career continued with roles in French, Italian and American films as well as a number of television appearances. Her final screen appearance was in, "The Sword and the Sorcerer" (1982).
In 1970, she chose to retire from the entertainment industry and pursue a career as a therapist. She also wrote a 1983 memoir called, "Has Corinne Been a Good Girl" where she talked about how Hollywood never really cast her in roles to show off her acting talents. She only returned back to the screen one time to do the film in 1982.
Calvet married three times throughout her lifetime. First to actor John Bromfield from 1948 through 1954. She then married Jeffrey Stone from 1955 to 1962 after having one son, Robin. Her third time to marry was to Robert Wirt from 1968 to 1971. She did not marry again and on June 23rd, 2001 she passed away in Los Angeles, California from cerebral hemorrhaging.
