CLU GULAGER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Clu Gulager was born on November 16th, 1928 in Holdenville, Oklahoma with the birth name William Martin Gulager. His father, John Gulager was an actor who performed on Broadway as well as vaudeville. He was mostly raised by his alcoholic uncle who lived on a farm near Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
In the late 1940's he attended Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and then between 1946 through 1948 he served in the United States Marine Corps and then Gulager first got his experience working as a stage actor when he was in Paris at a theater under the guidance of Jean-Louis Barrault.
He then found work on a number of television shows such as "Have Gun-Will Travel" (1958), "Five Fingers" (1959), "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" (1959), "The Untouchables" (1959) and "Wagon Train" (1959-1964).
In 1960 he signed with Universal as a contract player and continued to make numerous appearances on a variety of television shows such as, "The Virginian" (1963-1968), "Dr. Kildare" (1964), "The Tall Man" (1960-1962) and "The Killers" (1964).
Some of his more well known film roles were on, "Winning" (1969), "The Last Picture Show" (1971), "Into the Night" (1985) and "The Return of the Living Dead" (1985).
Clu Gulager has married only one time to actress, Miriam Byrd-Nethery in 1952 and they had two sons, John and Tom. The couple remained married until she passed away on January 6th, 2003. His son John is a well known film director.
He has not remarried again and is for the most part retired except for an appearance in his sons films, "Feast II: Sloppy Seconds" (2008), "Feast III: The Happy Finish" (2009) and his latest work "Piranha 3DD" (2011).
