CHUCK NORRIS BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Chuck Norris was born on March 10th, 1940 in Ryan, Oklahoma with the birth name Carlos Ray Norris, born to parents, Wilma and Ray Norris. He has two younger brothers and as a child he was kind of shy, not athletic and just a mediocre student.
At the age of sixteen his parents divorced and lived with his mother in Kansas for a bit before relocating to Torrance, California. When he completed high school, he joined the United States Air force and worked as an Air Policeman. When he was serving in the military, he became interested in Tangsudo which lead him to develop a strong interest in martial arts.
Even upon return to California he worked as an Air Policeman at March Air Force base and was also involved in developing an association called United Fighting Arts Federation and also Kickstart with are programs designed to keep at risk youth focused by using martial arts.
Norris became a major fighter winning a number of victories and in 1969 he won Karate's triple crow for the most tournament wins of the year. In 2000, Norris was even presented the Golden Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Karate Union Hall of Fame.
After gaining a number of years experience as a martial arts fighter, Norris began getting involved in the entertainment industry. He made his film debut in, "The Wrecking Crew" (1969) and was responsible for teaching Bruce Lee everything he knew about martial arts when the two men became acquainted at a martial arts demonstration in Long Beach, California.
Soon Norris was being cast in more films such as, "Breaker! Breaker!" (1977), "Good Guys Wear Black" (1978), "The Octagon" (1980), "An Eye for an Eye" (1981) and "Lone Wolf McQuade" (1983).
As his career progressed many of the films he worked on were with Cannon Films such as, "Code of Science", "The Delta Force" and "Firewalker". As Cannon films were beginning to faze out so were film opportunities for Norris. Luckily, Norris did not let this stop him from his continued pursuit of making a living as an actor. He chose to switch over to television and began working on the series, "Walker, Texas Ranger" (1993) which lasted eight years.
Since the show ended, Chuck Norris still can be seen making appearances on a number of infomercials and also does some commercial work.
He also remains involved working for a number of charities such as the Funds for Kids, Veterans Administration National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans, The United Way and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Chuck Norris has married twice. His first wife was Diane Holechek whom he married in 1958 and after having two children the marriage ended in 1989. He then married for a second time to Gena O'Kelly in 1998 and they also had two children and remain married today. He currently resides in Dallas, Texas.
