CHRISTIAN SLATER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Christian Slater was born on August 18th, 1969 in New York City, New York with the birth name Christian Michael Leonard Slater. Both his parents were already involved in the entertainment industry. His father, Michael Hawkins was an actor on a soap opera and his mother, Mary Jo Slater worked as a casting agent. It was no wonder with this type of family influence, that Slater too would pursue a career in the industry.
He began his career at the age of seven appearing on the soap opera, "The Edge of Night" in 1976. Slater then began to gain some experience as a stage actor in the mid 1980's and even went on appear in a number of Broadway productions. He studied at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
Still living in New York, Slater auditioned for the role of Binx Davey for the film, "The Legend of Billie Jean" (1985). He was cast in the part and this helped boost his career that in 1987 he chose to leave high school early and he relocated to Los Angeles, California in pursuit of a career as a film actor.
It did not take long to get cast in the film, "The Name of the Rose" (1986) which opened the door for him for his first starring film role, "Heathers" (1988). As his career progressed, Slater was seen on the big screen in such films as, "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves", (1991), "Interview with the Vampire": The Vampire Chronicles"(1994), "Pump up the Volume" (1990), "Broken Arrow" (1996), "True Romance"(1993) and "Hard Rain" (1998).
Along with film roles he also made a number of television appearances throughout his career in such series a, "West Wing", "Alias", "The Forgotten" and "Robot Chicken". Not only has Slater built up a decent resume as a stage, television and film actor, he has also added a number of voice over projects to his resume such as in, "FernGully: The Last Rainforest", "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" and "Dinosaur Planet".
Soon to release in 2012 are a number of films such as, "El Gringo" (2012), "Freaky Deaky" (2012), "Bullet to the Head" (2012), "Dawn Rider" (2012) and "Wake" (2012).
Although hr has always had the bad boy image in Hollywood and has a number of arrests on his records, Slaterhe did finally settle down and marry Ryan Haddon in 2000 and they had two children together, Jaden and Eliana before the marriage ended in divorce in 2006. He remains a very good father and very involved in his children's lives and has managed to stay out of trouble with the law since 2005.
Christian Slater is a big supporter of quite a few different charities such as Global Green and Whatever it Takes. He is also very involved in AIDS awareness and works to promote humanitarian work.
