Buck Taylor was born on May 13th, 1938 in Hollywood, California with the birth name Walter Clarence Taylor III.  His father was a character actor who went by the name of Dub Taylor.  Born into a family involved in acting it was not a surprise that he chose to follow in his fathers footsteps.
After graduating from North Hollywood High School, Taylor went to study drama at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.  He also excelled in gymnastics and at one point tried out for the Olympic team.
Before pursuing a career in acting he joined the united States Navy and served his country for two years.  After he completed his military service he began working as a television actor appearing on such series as, "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" (1963), "My Favorite Martian" (1964), "The Fugitive" (1963-1964) and "The Greatest Show on Earth" (1963-1964).
Along with establishing himself as a television actor he was also appearing on the big screen in a number of films such as, Ensign Pulver" (1964) and "The Wild Angels" (1966).  Throughout his career he would appear in over fifty films.

Following the series ending, he did not choose to retire from the industry but instead continued to appear in a variety of westerns such as, "Cattle Annie and Little Britches" (1980), "The Triumphs of a Man Called Horse" (1983), "Tombstone" (1993), "Rough Riders" (1997), "Hard Ride", "The Last Horseman" and "Legend of Hell's Gate" (all 2008).
Throughout his career he appeared in a so many westerns that he earned numerous awards such as, 'The Wrangler' award in 1972 and "The National Festival of the West Award" in 1998.  He was also inducted into the National Cowboy Western Heritage Museum as a trustee.  He has also been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was memorialized in, 'The Trail of Fame' in Dodge City in Kansas where the series, "Gunsmoke" was set to take place.
Along with being a highly successful actor he was also a very talented artist.  He would sell and continues to sell his paintings at galleries, festivals and on his own personal website.
Throughout his lifetime he married twice, first to Judy Nugent in 1961 and they had three sons,  before the marriage ended in 1983.  He is currently married to his second wife, Goldie Taylor and they reside on a ranch in Texas.
