BRADFORD DILLMAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Bradford Dillman was born on April 14th, 1930 in San Francisco, California to Dean and Josephine Dillman. After graduating from St. Ignatius High School he went on to earn his college degree in English Literature from Yale. Dillman then chose to join the United States Marine Corp and served in Korea from 1951 through 1953.
Upon completing his service he decided he was interested in pursuing a career as an actor. He began by enrolling at the Actors Studio and then worked as an apprentice at the Sharon Playhouse.
After gaining some experience in the industry he began working as a stage actor making his debut in a production of, "The Scarecrow" (1953) followed three years later with his Broadway debut in, "Long Day's Journey Into Night".
Now Bradford had begun to gain the attention of Hollywood and 20th Century Fox signed him to a contract and cast him in the film, "A Certain Smile" (1958) for which Dillman earned a Golden Globe Award for, "Most Promising Newcomer". Other film roles soon followed such as, "In Love and War" (1958), "Compulsion" (1959), "Francis of Assisi" (1961), "A Circle of Deception" (1960), "A Rage to Live" (1965), "The Plainsman" (1966), "The Way We Were" (1973), "The Iceman Cometh" (1973), "The Lincoln Conspiracy" (1977) "The Swarm" (1978), "Piranha" (1978) and "Lords of the Deep" (1989).
Although he was seen on the big screen numerous times none of his films ever really took him to the level of stardom he hoped for and many of them were very unsuccessful at the box office, however as a television actor, he made quite a name for himself appearing in a multitude of hot shows such as "The Virginian", "The F.B.I", "Bonanza", "Mod Squad", "Medical Center", "Cannon", "Fantasy island", "Charlie's Angels", "Dynasty", "Falcon Crest" and his final appearance was in, "Murder, She Wrote" (1985-1995).
Throughout his lifetime he has married twice. His first wife was Frieda Harding whom he wed in 1956 and after having two children the marriage came to an end in 1962. He then married Suzy Parker in 1963 and they had three children together and remained married until she passed away on May 3rd, 2003.
Along with working as an actor he also established himself as an author in 1995 writing the novel, "Inside the New York Giants" followed by publishing his memoirs called, "Are You Somebody? An Actors Life". He currently resides in Montecito, California and has not re-married or made any returns back to the industry.
