BLYTHE DANNER BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Blythe Danner was born on February 3rd, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the birth name Blythe Katherine Danner. Her parents were Katharine and Harry Earl Danner and she has two brothers and one sister. All four children ended up having careers in entertainment. After graduating from George High School she enrolled at Bard College and earned a degree in drama.
She soon found work for the Boston Theater companies and began working as a stage actress. By the age of twenty five she had earned her first Theater World Award for her role in the play, "The Miser".
Soon she was working on such films as, "To Kill a Clown" (1972), "The Last of the Belles" (1974), "Lovin' Molly" (1974), "The Great Santini" (1979), "Brighton Beach Memoirs" (1986) and "The Prince of Tides" (1991).
Along with film and theater she has also appeared on numerous television series such as, "M*A*S*H", "Will and Grace", "Huff", "Columbo", "Two and a Half Men" and "The X-Files".
Other awards she has been honored with thus far in her career was a Tony Award in 1970 for her role in, "Butterflies Are Free". She has also been nominated for three other Tony Awards for Best Actress in a play in 1980 for her role in, "Betrayal" then again in 1988 for her role in, "A Streetcar Named Desire" and finally in 2001 another nomination for, "Follies".
In 1969 she married Bruce Paltrow and together they had two children and remained married until he passed away on October 3rd, 2002. Her daughter, Gwyneth Paltrow, also became a well known actress and her son, Jake became a well known director.
Some of her more recent roles have been in, "Meet the Parents" (2000) and both sequels "Meet the Fockers" (2004) starring Robert Di Nero, Ben Stiller and "Little Fockers" (2010). In 2011 she appeared on the series, "Up All Night" and soon to release are her latest two film roles, "Hello I Must Be Going" (2012) and "The Lucky One" (2012).
In addition to her acting career she is also an environmentalist and is on the Board of Environmental Advocates of New York as well as being a member of the Board of Directors for the Environmental Media Association. She is also involved with the non profit organization, Oral Cancer Foundation.
