BERT FREED BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Bert Freed was born on November 3rd, 1919 in The Bronx, New York with the birth name Bertram Freed. He is most remembered from his role in the sci-fi film, "Invaders from Mars" (1953).
He was raised in New York City and after graduating from high school, he enrolled at Penn State University. It was during his college years that he first developed an interest in acting.
In 1942 he debuted in his first Broadway production and after gaining a couple more years experience as a stage actor in such plays as, "The Day Before Spring", he broke into the film industry in 1947 appearing on, "Carnegie Hall".
As his career progressed, Freed appeared in a number of successful films such as, "Ma and Pa Kettle Go to Town" (1950) Marjorie Main and Percy Kilbride, Richard Long, Douglas Kennedy, Rex Lease, James Westerfield, Charles McGraw, Elliott Lewis, Jim Backus, Hal March and Meg Randall, "No Way Out" (1950) starring Richard Widmark, Linda Darnell, Stephen McNally, Stanley Ridges, Harry Bellaver and Sidney Poitier, "Halls of Montezuma" (1951) starring alongside Richard Widmark, Jack Palance, Reginald Gardiner, Robert Wagner, Richard Boone, Skip Homeier, Jack Webb, Martin Milner, Philip Ahn, Neville Brand and Karl Malden, "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" (1952) starring Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Torin Thatcher, Emmett Smith, Hildegard Knef, Leo G. Along with working as a film actor, Bert Freed also made quite a name for himself on television. In 1981 he chose to retire from the industry and remained married to his only wife, Nancy lee Wurzberger whom he wed in 1956 and had two children with. Bert Freed passed away on August 2nd, 1994 in British Columbia, Canada from a heart attack while on a fishing trip with his son.
