Andy Garcia ACTOR


Andy Garcia was born on April 12th, 1956 in Havana, Cuba with the birth name Andrés Arturo García Menéndez.  At the age of five his family relocated to Miami Beach Florida after Fidel Castro came to power.  His family soon started a successful business and they were in a much better financial state.
During high school at Miami Beach Senior High he was very involved in athletics and excelled at baseball.  He also developed an interest in acting.  He went on to college at Florida International University, however, before earning a degree he decided he wanted to pursue a career in acting and therefore relocated to Hollywood, California.
He began taking minor parts in television before being cast in his first real break through television role in, "Hill Street Blues" (1981).  Soon Garcia was appearing on the big screen in such films as, "8 Million Ways to Die" (1986), "The Untouchables" (1987), "Black Rain" (1989), "International Affairs" (1990) and "The Godfather: Part III" (1990) for which he earned an Oscar nomination for his performance.
Andy was now a highly desired actor and had reached a whole new level of respect in Hollywood.  Soon he was appearing in more films more frequently such as, "Jennifer Eight" (1992), "Hero" (1992), "When a Man Loves a Woman" (1994), "Night Falls on Manhattan" (1996), "Hoodlum" (1997) and "Desperate Measures" (1998).
He gained a huge new fan base when he starred in the highly successful film, "Ocean's Eleven" (2001) starring alongside a plethora of famous actors including Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Elliott Gould and many others, and appeared in both sequels in 2004 and 2007.  Some of his other recent roles have been, "New York, I Love You" (2009), "5 Days of War" (2011) and soon to release in 2012, "The Truth", "Open Road", "Admissions" and "Hemingway & Fuentes".
Along with his numerous film credits he has also appeared in a variety of television series such as, "Murder, She Wrote", "Will & Grace" and did some voice over work on, "The Simpsons".
He has been married only once to his current wife, Marivi Lorido Garcia whom he wed in 1982 and they have four children together and remain married today.  
Throughout his career he has received a number of honors due to his acting talents and appearance.  In 1996, Empire magazine chose him as one of the 100 sexiest stars in film history.
Andy Garcia has managed to have a successful personal and professional career and continues to impress Hollywood.
