AMY MADIGAN BIOGRAPHY & FILMOGRAPHY:
Amy Madigan was born on September 11th, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. As a young girl she studied at Philip Neri grammar school and graduated from Aquinas High School. During her early years education, she developed an interest in acting and would participate in a number of school stage productions.
She later joined a band called, 'Jelly' and posed for Playboy magazine to promote her band wearing only 'Jelly'. She was also for a while the lead singer for the rock group, 'Big Daddy'.
Madigan earned her college degree in philosophy from Marquette University and later studied acting with Lee Strasberg.
Some of her more well known film roles include, "Places in the Heart" (1984) starring Sally Field, Lindsay Crouse, Ed Harris, John Malkovich, Danny Glover and Terry O'Quinn and "Alamo Bay" (1985), "Field of Dreams" (1989) starring with Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta and Burt Lancaster in his final film role, "The Dark Half" (1993), "Twice in a Lifetime" (1985), "Pollock" (2000) starring Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Robert Knott, Bud Cort, Molly Regan, Val Kilmer, Marcia Gay Harden and Sada Thompson, "Just a Dream" (2002), "Winter Passing" (2005) co-starring Ed Harris, Zooey Deschanel, Will Ferrell and Amelia Warner and "Gone Baby Gone" (2007) directed by Ben Affleck and starring his brother Casey Affleck, Morgan Freeman, Michelle Monahan, Ed Harris and Amy Ryan.
Along with film work she also has appeared on such television series as, "Criminal Minds", "ER", "Saving Grace", "Law & Order", "Grey's Anatomy" and is most well remembered for her role on the series, "Carnivàle" portraying Iris Crowe.
Most recently she has added such television credits to her resume as, "Fringe" (2010-2011), "Memphis Beat" (2011) and the film roles, "Future Weather" (2012) and "Shirley in Love", which is currently in post production.
She has won such awards as a Drama Logue award for her role in the Los Angeles Theater Center production of, "Stevie Wants To Play The Blues" and for her role in the film, "Twice in a Lifetime" (1985) starring alongside Gene Hackman, Ellen Burstyn, Ally Sheedy, Ann Margret and Stephen Lang, she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Amy Madigan has married only once to actor Ed Harris whom she wed in 1983 and they have one child together and remain married today.
