Adam Sandler ACTOR


Adam Sandler was born on September 9, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York with the birth name Adam Richard Sandler to parents Judy and Stanley Sandler.  At the age of five his family relocated to Manchester, New Hampshire and he graduated from Manchester Central High School. 

At the age of seventeen he became involved in entertaining when he was given a chance to perform as a stand-up comedian at a comedy club in Boston.  After high school he went on to attend New York University and while studying theater he also found work performing in local nightclubs. 

Even before earning a college degree, Sandler had already had a couple television and film roles on his resume.  In the mid-1980s he was cast in a recurring role on the television series The Cosby Show (1987-1988) playing, Theo Huxtable's friend, Smitty.  He was seen by another comedian, Dennis Miller, when he was in Los Angeles performing and Miller convinced Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels to use Sandler as a writer for the program.  

As his career progressed his was given his first starring role in 1989 in the film Going Overboard.  Sandler then began appearing on the big screen more often in such films as Airheads (1994), Happy Gilmore (1996), Billy Madison (1995), Wedding Singe" (1998), The Waterboy (1998), Big Daddy (1999) and Mr. Deeds (2002).  

Although Sandler had appeared in a number of films, none had really received much critical praise, but beginning in 2000 his film roles began to get the attention of critics such as in the film Punch-Drunk Love (2002) for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe and then followed by the films Spanglish (2004), Reign Over Me (2007) and You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008). 

Some of his more recent roles have been in 2009 in Funny People, Just Go With It (2011), Jack & Jill (2011) and he also did voice-over work for the animated film Zookeeper (2011).  Scheduled to be released in 2012 were I Hate You, Dad and Hotel Transylvania.  

Along with earning a huge amount of popularity as an actor and comedian, Sandler also writes and produces films and even has several hit songs that have made the Billboard charts, such as the song The Chanukah Song.  In 1999 he formed his own film production company, Happy Madison Productions, and has produced such films as Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, The Animal, The Hot Chick, The Benchwarmers, The Longest Yard and 50 First Dates among many others.   

Adam Sandler married actress Jacqueline Samantha Titone on June 22, 2003 and they have two daughters together, Sadie and Sunny, and remain married today.  He resides with his family in Los Angeles, California and also owns a home in New York.    

He is also very involved in charitable causes and once made a one million dollar donation to the Boys and Girls Club in his hometown of Manchester, New Hampshire.
